George Ernest Tyldesley born 5th February in Worsley, Lancashire. A true cricketing legend. He played for Lancashire and England during the early 20th century. A stylish and accomplished batsman renowned for his strong defensive technique, quick scoring, and eye for the gaps in the field.


Tyldesley represented England in 33 test matches, scoring over 2000 runs and averaging more than 40 runs per innings. He was particularly effective against the Australian cricket team, scoring several important centuries against them.


Tyldesley is one of the few batsmen in history to score 100 first-class centuries. This, along with his sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct, earned him the prestigious Member of the Order of the British Empire for his service to cricket in 1959.
